For some time now, a special “shepherd” has been wandering on the lush green meadows of New Zealand: it is the dog-robot “Spot” of the American company Boston Dynamics who supervises and guides the flock of sheep as a sailed Maremma would do. The US company joined forces with the New Zealand robotics company Rocos, which developed the software. Spot has been designed to last a long time and reach where other robots fail: it can climb steep terrain and remotely guide sheep while grazing.
