Kanye West donated two million dollars to the Black Lives Matter lawsuit against racism and set up a fund to cover college expenses for George Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, Gianna Floydfollowing the week of protests that rocked America.
West also offered to cover legal fees for the families of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, two more police victims. West’s donations came after the rapper was criticized on Twitter for being silent about the Black Lives Matter movement and the killing of Floyd. Although the old Kanye would have immediately expressed himself on Twitter to share his thoughts, today the music has changed and West sporadically uses his social media accounts.
There are no official statements following the donation news, only a few details revealed through his spokesman. His wife Kim Kardashian he used Instagram to express his anguish over the loss of another black life due to police brutality: “Like many of you, I am angry. I am more than angry. I am angry and disgusted. My heart is shattered in the to see mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children suffer because a person close to them was wrongfully murdered or imprisoned just because they are black “.
