It's claws out at the tabloids following news that actor Hugh Grant has reportedly fathered his third child - or third "lovechild" to use the correct journalese. Of course, the personal attacks on Grant across a number of papers are no coincidence. The papers in question clearly see this as a chance for some payback after Grant played a key role in exposing illegal and unethical activities by journalists, resulting the Leveson Inquiry.
Jane Moore over at The Sun criticises Grant being "a single man in his fifties who refuses to settle down". One of the mothers of Grant's children "is 20 years younger than him," Moore adds with tutting disapproval. "You'd think he was a bit old ...for such nonsense," she adds.
It's certainly brave of anybody at The Sun to criticise older, single fathers who have apparently failed "to settle down".
After all, the paper's owner Rupert Murdoch is a single man in his eighties, thirty years Grant's senior, who has apparently failed to settle down now with three different wives. He has had six children with three different women, beating Grant's tally for both kids and mothers, and fathered two of his children in his seventies with a woman 37 years younger than him.
Grant is a pup in comparison.
